Discussing business with HRH the Prince of Wales

Discussing business with HRH Prince Charles

I was given the opportunity to discuss my experience as a business owner with Prince Charles.

The event was hosted by the Prince’s Trust at NatWest bank in South London on Thursday, 11 November.

The purpose of the event was to mark the partnership between The Prince’s Trust and NatWest, who have been supporters of The Trust for over 20 years. Most notably through their support on the Enterprise programme, which is a business development programme I have completed.

Out of all the many businesses supported by the Princes Trust, I felt very honoured to be one of the four selected to showcase my business to HRH.

Meeting with Prince Charles  for the first time was sensational, he had a firm handshake and he was incredibly friendly. We discussed how the programme had supported me in writing a comprehensive 50+ page business plan, and I explained the importantance of having a realistic financial forecast & marketing plan.

I enjoyed explaining my brand's (The No.1 Face) concept to him and I showed him some staple pieces from our collection. He said it was a fantastic idea and showed some interest.

He then went on to ask me what was one of the highlights of the enterprise programme to which I replied, meeting the founder of the shirt company Charles TYRWHITT. Who started from humble beginnings, persevered through some difficult times and now owns a business worth over £100 million, while employing 200+ people in the UK.

HRH said Charles TYRWHITT's was very impressive and asked how I was doing in relation to that.

My response was that my business is how I survive, my clothing line was self-funded. I was not on furlough, I didn’t receive a loan or grant during the covid pandemic and I am making good progress.

In addition, several influencers, reality TV stars, popular comedians & music artists/producers such as Tion Wayne, Zeze Millz, Ryan Thomas, Eddie Kadi, Wiley, Jae 5, Ghetts & many more, have also been spotted wearing items from our collection.

Finally, he praised me for my positive attitude, determination and resilience during these challenging times!

The brain is the most important organ, and its proper functioning is crucial for our productivity, memory, and overall well-being.

Whenever I look back to the times that I have been extremely happy, I notice it was usually down to the importance and significance that I put on what was happening. That means that it was my choice to be happy. I chose in my mind that if x y and z happens then I will be happy. Therefore that means I can control my happiness, if i control what my x y and z are. The reason why it is important for me to be in a happy state is, because I am more productive and a pleasant person to be around. That said there are things that happen in life which are out of our control, that can impact our happiness, but if you focus on the things that make you happy I would argue that it is impossible to not to feel happy in that moment. I hear people say things like, when i get that new job, car or promotion then I'll be happy! To which I often interject and say " Then you will be happier!!! because if you are not already happy with what you have now, you probably will not be happy with more titles, money or fame." Retrospectively many people spend their life searching for happiness, only to discover in the end, that it was inside them all along! I challenge you to start focusing on the things that are good about your life, instead of what is bad.
